Ningbo Customs facilitating exports of aquatic products

The latest statistics released by Ningbo Customs show that in the first eight months of 2011 the total value of export of aquatic products amounted to 220 million US dollars, increased by 51.5% over the same period of last year. With the ending of the moratorium, the exports of aquatic products from the Ningbo port are sure to rise further.

Among the aquatic products exported, the live eel is the most popular with foreign customers in the first eight months. The total export value of live eel added up to 41.92 million US dollars, up by 22.7% over the same period of last year. Taking into consideration the fact that the export of aquatic products calls for a high speed of customs clearance, Ningbo Customs makes innovations to optimize its supervision mode and make efforts to facilitate the clearance. To be specific, the Customs adopts the "pre-declaring" mode for the bulk fresh seafood, and opens the "green passage" for fishing industry so that the fresh seafood can be promptly dealt with and pass the Customs as quickly as possible. In this way, the exporters may feel quite relieved.

In addition, by actively going into enterprises to do field research and to publicize relevant policies, Ningbo Customs endeavors to make suggestions to enterprises and help them solve the problems occurred in the process of transformation and upgrading.

It is said that for the first eight months this year, Ningbo's exports of aquatic products to Japan reached 89.77 million US dollars, up by 61.1% over the same period of last year.

Beilun Invests Hugely in Low-carbon Navigation

Recently, 13 navigation companies and 2 port logistics enterprises in Beilun received 29,190,000 Yuan from the government for technical innovation, which injects vitality to the forging of low-carbon water transportation business.
Confronted with fierce competitions and increasingly rising price of fuel and transportation costs, the Beilun waterborne enterprises turn to energy-efficient and low-carbon navigation by replacing small ships with larger ones and old ones with new ones.
It is said that such adjustments can save more than 27% fuel per ton during a unit time. In the first half of the year, oil consumption of Beilun waterborne enterprises is 37952.6 tons, 2213.8 tons lower than that of the last year.
“By offering the special capital for transforming and supporting technology, we are devoted to building low-carbon, large-scale and intensive navigation”, said Chen Yonghai from the Beilun port and navigation administration. “We are accelerating to replace the old ships with large tonnage ones that meet the standard and are environmental-friendly so as to create a large, unique and new water transportation business.”
The statistics has that until June of this year, there are 19 registered waterborne enterprises and 42 water service companies in Beilun, with 40 transportation ships and transportation capacity of 8,920,000tons.

Guangming bulk cargo terminal received a 10,000 T vessel

A vessel with 18000 tons of coal from Qinhuangdao successfully called at the 50,000 T Guangming bulk cargo terminal of Beilun a couple of days ago. This was the first time that a vessel of this tonnage got anchored in the terminal, signifying that the transfer capacity of the Beilun Port has come on a new stage.

The Guangming terminal is the largest one in the north Chuanshan Port. It is located at the northern side of the Chuanshan peninsula, having a 50,000 T and a 20,000 T berths. Meanwhile, it can receive two 30,000 T vessels of bulk cargoes at the same time. In addition, it has a 10,000 T berth, capable of receiving three 500 T barges at the same time. The handling capacity reached eight million tons, with total investment of 906 million yuan.

As an important coal terminal and a transfer base of bulk goods, the project started to be built in September 2008. It can further alleviate the transport pressure of the market demand on coals and can improve the investment environment. Meanwhile, it can improve the transshipment capacity of the port and help to solve the bottleneck problem of port logistics of Beilun.
