With the efforts made in the past three years, Lao San Jin, a time-honored shoe making company of Ningbo recently reopened on the business street of the Drum Tower. Ningbo Page One, a KTV hypermarket with an investment of 30 million yuan, opened in the Tianyi Business District in July. With the unique resources in the historic streets and modern core business districts, Haishu District is making its cultural industrial chain and the cultural industry is an important drive for its economic transformation and upgrading.
By the end of June this year, Haishu District has 2,987 cultural enterprises, which account for one fifth of the total of enterprises in the district. In the first half this year, Haishu had 70 new cultural companies. The business income of the cultural enterprises above a certain level reaches 4.924 billion yuan, up by 19.6% year on year.
As the core of Ningbo the famous historical city, Haishu District has rich cultural resources. It has 21 national, provincial and municipal-level cultural relics protection sites and 7 of the 8 historic streets of Ningbo. The Tianyi Business district alone has 120 cultural companies engaged in cultural transmitting, cultural designing and management. In the first half this year, Haishu District introduced Fujian Province’s biggest media company, the Westbank Media Co., Ltd.
“Haishu District is characteristic of the historic streets and modern trade. To develop its cultural industry along this line, we can give full play to the existing resources, and effectively promote industrial concentration,” said an authority of Haishu Culture, Radio and TV Bureau.
