Prevention against accidents stepped up amid snowy weather

Local urban management authorities are ready to take steps to prevent possible accidents caused by the snow, said the Municipal Urban Management Bureau last Sunday.
The city’s urban management department has stepped up highway patrol to ensure smooth traffic in major roads, bridges, and tunnels. To ensure traffic safety, the urban management is ready to apply sand or salt to help melt snow or ice accumulations when necessary.
The emergency snow relief supplies include three large snowplows, eight small snowplows, 12 sets of snow boards, and 344 tons deicers. In addition, the city’s urban department plans to purchase three large snowplows more. Besides, urban management has pruned tree branches and limbs in case heavy loads of ice and snow might cause tree branches to break. An approximately 200,000 street trees trunks were whitewashed to protect from serious winter damage.
In addition, the city urban management department also carried out an overall checkup over the water plant equipments, water pipes and other water supply systems to ensure the safe and stable water supply in winter.
