Ningbo unveils plans for Olympic Sports Center

Ningbo has unveiled its plan to build an Olympic Sports Center in 2014 on a conference attended by local sports officials Tuesday afternoon. The new stadium has been designated as a key project in the city's "Three-year Program of major government-funded Projects".
Ningbo government confirmed the function, design, site, main building, building length, constructors, and budget of the Olympic Sports Center in a conference held on January 23, 2014. According to the plan, the first phase of the project, which is scheduled to start in 2014, consists the building of a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness hall and a sports theme park. With a total investment of nearly 4.5 billion yuan ($7,423.65 million), the first phase of the Olympic Sports Center is expected to be completed three years later. Ningbo government urges the Municipal Sports Bureau to coordinate team effort, participate in the design, construction, and future operation research, and ensure the timely start and completion of the project.
According to information released by the website of Ningbo Municipal Planning Bureau, the Olympic Sports Center is located in the newly developed area on the north shore of the Yao River, covering an area of about 68 hectares, three times as large as Tianyi Square
