Cidong Binhai District Upgraded into a Provincial-level Economic Development Zone

The other day, the provincial government issued a notice approving the Cidong Binhai District to be a provincial-level economic development zone, which shall enjoy the preferential policies of a provincial-level economic development zone.
With the restructuring of the Hangzhou Bay New District and the approval of the Zhejiang Maritime Economy Demo Zone Planning as a national strategy by the State Council, the strategic layout of Cixi has taken significant changes. Responding to the new situation, Cixi city government decided to speed up the construction of Cidong Binhai District and set up an administrative committee for the District, which started the construction of the district. For three years, the Cidong Binhai District has been developing fast and kept introducing large projects. It is now heading towards a large platform for maritime economy as large as 100 million yuan, the first-rate ecological demo zone of Zhejiang and a new modern coastal town.
In the Notice, the provincial government requires Cixi to tightly follow the master plan and the overall planning of the administrative region of the city, to coordinate the zoning plan of marine functions and the environmental protection plans, proceed with the examination and approval formalities regarding to land use, supply land according to law, make use of land resources in a rational, intensive and efficient way and strengthen the risk control system construction. Meanwhile, it requires the Cixi government to lay equal emphasis on advanced manufacturing and modern service industry, introduction of foreign investment and domestic investment, economic development and social harmony, doing the best to improve the quality and level and vitalize the mechanism so as to set up a multifunctional platform with industrial development as the lead and give better play to the window effect of the zone on the regional economy.
According to an official of the Binhai District, the Binhai District being upgraded into a provincial-level one will play a significant role in speeding up the transformation of the economic growth, deepening reform and development and increasing the quality and level of regional development as well as strengthening the mechanism of the system.
