Agricultural IOT Experiment and Demonstration Began to Take Shape

In Beilun Qingtai fruit garden, the person in charge can know the real-time environmental condition of the grape greenhouse by merely looking at the monitor and the data in computer in his office. The intelligent environmental control system, which is the first application of the Internet of Things to fruit cultivation, was recently accepted by relevant municipal departments.
Qingtai fruit garden launched this project during the first half of 2015. According to the person in charge, the real-time data in the greenhouse including PH value in soil, temperature, moisture and light intensity can all be obtained through the sensor. The application of new technology achieved effects of water-saving, fertilizer-saving, labor-saving and efficiency, saving spending of more than 40,000 yuan on manpower, water, fertilizer and electric power and increasing profits of over 90,000 yuan.
In traditional farming, farmers water, fertilize and spray pesticide all by their experience and intuition. However, in some of Ningbo’s production bases of facility agriculture, things are different. When to water or fertilize and how to adjust moisture, temperature and light intensity are all handled and controlled by the intelligent monitoring system. Farmers only need to press the switch or just follow the instructions to have their vegetables and flowers cultivated successfully.
It is learned from agricultural departments that Ningbo has built 8 new demonstration bases for agricultural Internet of Things in 2015. Altogether Zhejiang province has invested 44 million yuan and built 23 pilot demonstration bases of agricultural Internet of Things concerning multiple industries such as vegetables, fruits, animal husbandry and traditional Chinese medicine. They are mainly applied to video surveillance, monitoring data such as temperature, moisture and light intensity, automatic control system such as automatic sprinkler and micro irrigation or remote control system as well as to data query and analysis, decision support, intelligent logistics and tracing system of agricultural products.
In Binhai quality garden of seed and seedling in Zhenhainancun, Simen, Yuyao, professional cooperatives of healthy and green vegetables supply over 85 million seedlings every year. The garden now has initially formed an intelligent measuring and controlling system and the scene of 77 mu (5.13 hectares) intelligent nursery greenhouse is marvelous.
