First elevated expressway to be built in downtown Cixi

Hu Hang from Bainian Electric Company has lost count of her tours to the Yuyao exit of Hangzhou-Ningbo Freeway to receive clients from other cities, when she came to the exit again on the morning of May 26. But this time she was happy as it may be the last time. With the building of the first elevated expressway in downtown Cixi County, the freeway and the urban area of Cixi County will be directly connected, and "our clients will have no difficulty find the way to our county."
The expressway is planned from Shengshan Town of Cixi to the Lubu exit of the freeway, and with the total length of 32.8 kilometers and a total investment of 3.45 billion yuan, it is estimated to be completed in two and a half years. When the expressway is completed, it will only take 8 minutes to go from the Citizen Square to Shenyang-Haikou Freeway, and 20 minutes to Hangzhou-Ningbo Freeway.
It has long been a big problem for citizens in Cixi County to have access to the freeway. It can been clearly seen from the comprehensive traffic planning map that the urban area of Cixi County is surrounded by the freeways, but it is inconvenient for citizens to go on any of the freeways.
According to a Mr. Ye, it takes him 25 minutes to go from the Citizen Square to the Cixi exit of the Shenyang-Haikou Freeway, and about one and a half hour to downtown Ningbo. While it is at least a 45-minute tour from Cixi County to the Hangzhou-Ningbo Freeway by way of the route passing Yuyao County and Shangyu County, and it will take two hours to go to Hangzhou.
The difficult traffic has restricted the development of the brisk private economy in the county. To solve the problem, the local government has been repairing and reconstructing the Zhongheng Road and the National Highway No.329. However, the traffic pressure is still a problem.
With the building of the expressway, the Long-distance Passenger Station of Cixi County will be transferred to the nearby area, and thus people can save 20 minutes and 30 minutes respectively to go to downtown Ningbo and Hangzhou.
It is learned from traffic departments in the county that during the 12th Five-year Plan period, Cixi will invest 10.8 billion yuan in the traffic construction. It is hoped that it will take only 10 minutes to go to the expressways, 20 minutes to go to the freeway and 30 minutes to travel between the towns and streets within the county.
