Cixi Economic Development Zone upgraded to a national development zone

On February 26, the website of Central Chinese Government released “Reply of Upgrading Cixi Economic Zone to a National Economic Development Zone”, announcing that the State Council officially appointed Cixi Economic Development Zone in Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area as a national economic development zone. The official name of the zone is Cixi Economic and Technical Development Zone and the present policies for national economic technological zones are enjoyed by the zone.
In 2001, at the approval of Zhejiang Provincial Government, Cixi Economic Development Zone moved from the central urban area of Cixi to Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area. In June 2005, the approval of the State Council, Cixi Export and Manufacturing Zone was established in Cixi Economic Development Zone. In November 2009, following the plan of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Zhejiang Provincial People's Government on promoting large projects, Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government released “Decision on Speeding up the Construction of Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area. In February 2010, the administrative committee of Cixi Export and Manufacturing Zone and the Administrative Committee of Cixi Economic Development Zone were integrated into the Party Work Committee of Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area and the Administrative Committee of Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area.
