2014 Ningbo Tourist Festival Press Conference

Ningbo Tourist Festival, initiated in 2008, has been successfully held 6 times and it is the biggest all-around tourist festival in Ningbo up to now. According to the statistics, the festival of 2013 brought 11 million tourists to Ningbo and boosted consumption up to 9 billion yuan, which exceeded one fifth of overall tourist income of 2013. 
2014 Ningbo Tourist Festival, lasting from September to October, is jointly sponsored by the Ningbo Municipal Government and Tourist Bureau of Zhejiang Province. This year, on the theme of “benefiting people, boosting consumption, serving urban and rural area, enhancing image”, we gather resources and improve both quality and effectiveness to further strengthen the activeness of cities and counties, and allow tourist enterprises and the masses to act as real heroes in tourist industry. Meanwhile, by citing the idea of “beautiful Ningbo, beautiful countryside” to publicize, we are also actively transforming Ningbo tourist products to that of sightseeing, leisure and vacation to satisfied the diversified demands of consumers and promote a lasting, all-round and healthy development of Ningbo tourist industry. We will strive to make this festival an event of innovation, high-efficiency, pragmatism and frugality, to create a nationwide festival, which can bring full sense of Ningbo’s beauty of city and scenery to both tourists and the locals, through various celebrations and public benefit activities.
2. Main content of this festival
2014 Ningbo Tourist Festival is divided into 12 major activities and 4 sections including benefiting people, boosting consumption, serving urban and rural area, enhancing image. Not only some traditional programs are retained, but also new ones are added, such as rural visit and some interesting tourist games.  
(1) Section of “benefiting people”


The first is to distribute thousands of travel vouchers. For the purpose of enlarging the use and cover range of travel vouchers and benefiting people to the maximum, we widely solicited tourist programs of special offer in public through mass media and request tourist enterprises to innovate products and uphold integrity. Eventually, we selected quality products and recorded them into the brochures of vouchers, each of which has a discount of over 50,000 yuan, valid for half a year, and covers 98 special offers including 30 tourist attractions and 31 tourist hotels. One million of such brochures are printed annually and will be distributed freely in all communities, scenic spots, hotels, tourist service centers and high-way rest areas, etc. Besides Ningbo, those travel vouchers will also be sent to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Taizhou, Jiangxing and Zhoushan,etc., through various forms such as Ala Traveler Magazine, newspapers and post services.
(2) Section of “boosting consumption”
The first is to hold 2014 Ningbo International Travel Fair. From September 5 to 7, 2014 Ningbo International Travel Fair will be held at Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year's tourism exhibition has many new innovative features, for example, experts from Taiwan Kuei Jung Exhibition Co., will provide pre-exhibition training for corporate; offshore service providers will be introduced for the first time to oversee Travel Fair site management; initiatives will be taken to cover for the exhibition insurance liability insurance. Meanwhile, during the travel fair, there will be daily performances, lucky draw, live auction, and other entertainment. The booth of Ningbo Science Discovery Center will also provide brilliant experience activities, the public is also able to enjoy the handmade Banshouli, or Taiwan Specialties, stars from TV and radio programs such as Ningbo Tourism, Ningbo Radio FM92 will join the buzz. Under the guidance of the Moonlight Economic policy carried out by the municipal government, Ningbo Tourism Night Market will also be unveiled at the travel fair, where there will be tourism products from Ningbo city and other counties, new Maxim pastries, specialties and other foodies. The fair is also joined by Ctrip , Baidu and other Internet giants, who will provide preferential coupons such as one yuan ticket for a scenic spot, 39 yuan for a day’s trip, 59 yuan for a one-day high-star hotel accommodation, etc.
The second is to innovate on events held by social organizations. First,to act in accordance with policy of corporate as main players through government support, the organizing committee of this tourism festival will increase the publicity of activities held by social organizations so as to fully stimulate the vitality, power and potential of the community to participate in the tourism festival. Overall, the festival presents several major features: First, it is featured by beautiful countryside. Rural elements are covered in more than 20 agricultural festivals, including Danshan Persimmon Festival, green farm harvest festival, Qiantong town Tofu Festival so that the public can fully appreciate the countryside of Ningbo; second, it is featured by Moonlight Economy. This year, Ningbo City will vigorously develop the night market street, form the moonlight night market street compatible with business circles, and this social festival activity exactly fits the theme. Themed events such as 2014 Ningbo Huang Xian Meteorological Star Seminar and Moon and Wine Appreciation are bound to enrich the consumer market at night and luminate Ningbo; third, it is featured by universal participation. Kaiyuan Jiulonghu outdoor music festival, East Lake cycling, lawn wedding festival, campfire activities and so on will create a national Carnival; Fourth, it is featured by promotion of consumption. In terms of difficulties facing high star business, we teamed with Shanghai Wancheyou networks company to carry out car travel spree in Ningbo, thus directly driving general consumption on high-star hotel rooms and restaurants, shopping and so on.
The third is to hold 2014 Ningbo Cooperation Conference for Travel Agencies. The conference will be held for the first time this year in mid-October. In March 2014, on the occasion of Zhejiang Province Travel Fair, the Municipal Tourism Bureau set up five Ningbo Tourism Agencies in Shandong as the center of the northern market. In May, tourism promotion activities under the theme of Meeting in Ningbo were held in Shenzhen. Later, five Ningbo Tourism Agencies were set up in Guangdong as the southern market center. Taking advantage of Ningbo Cooperation Conference for Travel Agencies 2014, annual conference will be held on Ningbo travel agencies will with discussions centered on tourism cooperation, travel routes, product developments and so on.
(3) Section of “serving urban and rural area”
The first is to plan on visits to beautiful countryside. In recent years, the provincial and municipal government has enhanced importance to the development of rural tourism. Ningbo rural tourism has ripened into nationwide campaign from local tourism. It has been transferred from rural tourism to countryside leisure and vacationing, and rural tourism development has also been positioned from farmers as the center to start business to a major cause for the integration between tourism and farmers. To further show the new development of rural tourism to the public and rural tourism development results, the Municipal Tourism Bureau has joined hands with Southeast Commercial to carry out activities including visits to countryside and report on those activities under the theme of Beautiful Ningbo, Splendid Countryside.
The second is to hold contest on arranging travel routes. In order to leverage experienced travelers resources from local and surrounding cities, strengthen Ningbo one-day tour, explore in depth several tourist attractions in Ningbo, the Municipal Tourism Bureau has joined City Express in the activity of micro-tour Ningbo to collect travel routes through media. After the selection of outstanding works, they will be materialized and on display through websites, Wechat, microblogs, newspapers and other channels, injecting innovative strength into Ningbo tourism products.
The third is to organize photography exhibition on Ningbo. In early October, Ningbo will hold a photography exhibition. At that time, pictures will bring a visual feast series reflecting Ningbo city scenery, tourist attractions, historical sites, ethnic folk customs, tourism, festivals and so on.
