2014 Ningbo Maritime Culture Week Kicks off

On November 17, “the ten most beautiful maritime cultural spots in Ningbo” was revealed on the opening ceremony of the 2014 Ningbo maritime culture week held in the Culture Square Theater. They are Qingan Guild Hall, Gulou Park, Tianfeng Tower, early modern constructions in the Old Bund, Ningbo Gang Museum, seventeen rooms of Zheng family, the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, former site of Hefeng Cotton Mill• Hefeng Creative Square, China Harbor Museum and Ningbo International Shipping Center.
The election of the ten spots consists of citizen voting and expert reviewing. First the experts elected 25 spots as candidates, then citizens voted through newspapers, the internet and at the scene to select out the 10 spots. Nearly ten thousand citizens have taken part in voting.
The revealing of the ten spots is the beginning of 2014 Ningbo maritime culture week. Held by Jiangdong District Party Committee and government, Administration of press, publication, radio and television of Ningbo and Shanghai Ocean University, the culture week is a series of cultural activities aiming to implement the crucial strategy of Ningbo to build a modernized international harbor city and construct a special city culture brand of maritime, including ten key activities such as China(Ningbo) Maritime Culture International Forum, "Maritime Cup" painting and calligraphy Competition, "World Heritage in Qingan•Maritime Culture in Jiangdong" program, maritime culture wall painting and research projects on maritime culture.
The culture week activities provide not only visual enjoyment and rich knowledge, but also aesthetic and gustatory pleasures. From November 21 to 24, the 2014 Maritime Culture Korean Trade Week activities will be held in Ningbo International Exhibition Center, during which citizens can enjoy Korean food as well as dancing. In the meantime,local and classic operas reflecting maritime culture will be performed on Maritime Culture Fair•“Best Operas in Jiangdong”exhibit shows.
Standing committee and minister rof the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee Hong Jiaxiang, director of the East Sea Branch of the State Oceanic Administration Liu Kefu attended the opening ceremony.
