Digital learning platform put into use

Ningbo Digital Learning Platform was officially opened in the library of Ningbo University Park on December 24, which is another important learning platform for the citizens besides the "air classroom" and the "life-long learning platform". It is understood that through the platform people can read 240 kinds of books on line, and make use of the online high-quality teaching resources provided by 16 universities in Ningbo.

According to reports, Ningbo digital learning platform (http://www.nbel.gov.cn) is the 2nd-phase project of the digital library. Unlike the 1st-phase project, which focuses on the construction of literature information resources, this project aims to assist in the education and teaching in universities in Ningbo, vocational training for enterprises and personalized learning of citizens by enhancing the construction of educational resources.

Early in 2009, Ningbo digital library was opened, so that it became possible for citizens to read books indoors. The newly-built digital learning platform, within the framework of the digital library, has realized the unified navigation and search of professional, course, cultural and recreational resources. After registration and logging, the citizens can have access to the course resources for online learning at the digital learning platform. Meanwhile, they can also find such resource information as supplementary books, journals and academic papers.

Zhejiang Wanli University sets up School of Wang Yangming Study

Zhejiang Wanli University officially set up a new school, School of Wang Yangming Study, to mark the beginning of its 2013 "Humanities in Wanli" campaign launched on Monday afternoon.

Wang Yangming, also known as Wang Shouren, is one of the most influential philosophers in the Confucian tradition. After School of Wang Yangming Study was founded, Wanli University will continue to organize more clubs and reading festivals to promote academic research and study on the philosophical thinking of Wang Yangming. The effort aims to spread the cultural essence of ancient scholars in Zhejiang Province and contribute to local economic development and cultural development.

Ningbo funded college graduates engaged in agriculture

In 2009, Ningbo released policies to encourage college graduates to engage themselves in agriculture. According to the statistics from Ningbo Municipal Agricultural Bureau, in 2009, the city gave subsidies to only 72 college graduates and this year the number rose to 370. By the end of this year, about 1100 collage graduates will have been funded. In the past five years, the subsidies from Ningbo municipality and the counties and districts have added up to 30 million yuan.

The per capita farmland in Ningbo is bellow 0.6 mu, lower the average of Zhejiang and the country. The people engaged in agriculture are 55 years old on average. An authority of the Ningbo Municipal Agricultural Bureau said, "The modern agriculture of Ningbo needs a large number of new farmers who are well educated, good at technologies and management."

This week, Ningbo Tiansheng Agricultural and Livestock Company recruited five college graduates. At present, the company has over 20 college graduates, including some from Zhejiang University. They work in the fields of farming, experiment and management.

According to the plan, by the end of 2015, there should be at least one college graduate in a specialized farmer cooperative, a municipal-level agricultural service institution, of a large grain production service institution. The city should have at least 1,000 college graduates in the farm and husbandry industries.

Job market hot for Zhejiang Textile & Fashion College graduates

A job fair for the 2014 graduates was held last Friday in Zhejiang Textile & Fashion College. According to the organizing committee, college graduates in Ningbo are facing better employment prospects this year. Four in ten graduates in Zhejiang Textile & Fashion College had signed employment agreements before the job fair was held.

The job fair held last Friday attracted more than 300 companies, which provides 4,800 jobs, including 40 percent textiles and clothing jobs, 15 percent electronic machinery jobs and 20 percent marketing jobs.
