Ningbo started building an international health port

Ningbo has started a program to build an international health port. aiming to pass the acceptance examination by the WHO for all the sea ports and airport in Ningbo by 2017. The other day, Ningbo held a mobilizing meeting for the program. Liu Pingjun, Vice Director of the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and Liu Qi, Vice Secretary of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Ningbo attended and spoke at the meeting. Zhang Jiwen, Director of the Health Department of State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine made an announcement of the opinions of State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine about the program of the building of international health ports. Vice mayors of Ningbo Hong Jiaxiang and Wang Jianshe attended the meeting.
According to related rules of International Health Regulations, the standards of an international seaport and international health airport have respectively 230 and 208 provisions, with respect to the general capacity, capacity to handle public emergencies, the organization and publicity for the program. At present, China has 6 international health seaports and 9 international health airports. In March last year, the Daxie Port area passed the examination and approval of the WHO becoming Zhejiang's first international health seaport. After that, Ningbo started the program to build an international health port.
Liu Pingjun pointed out that the construction of international health ports is an innovative way for the work of the building advanced clean cities and this is the first case in China. He said that Ningbo has made good arrangements and plans with definite goals, and well defined measures for the work. The work to build an international health seaport and airport at the same time is more complicated then build either of them. With its pioneering spirit, Ningbo is sure to establish a new pattern for the work and set a good example for other cities of the country.
Liu Qi pointed out that the International Health Ports is an important indicator as a modern international port city, that it is a necessary work for the people and the city, and that Ningbo has already had advantageous conditions for the work. He said that all related departments should work on the basis of unity of thoughts, proceed with confidence, make joint efforts, and seek for practical results. He stressed that the city should make concerted efforts, adopt workable measures, create an good environment and work in a down-to-earth manner, so as to complete the task as early as possible.
