Ningbo Bonded Zone granted national innovative demonstration area for trade promotion

Word came from the national experience exchange meeting for the foreign trade transformation and upgrading base and the foreign trade platform, held on December 26, that Ningbo Bonded Zone was granted by China Ministry of Commerce as a national innovative demonstration area for trade promotion.
The other two zones granted at the same time are Dongjiang Bonded Port Zone in Tianjin and Suzhou Industrial Park. Before this, the Waigaoqiao Bonded Zone in Shanghai was the only bonded zone in China to be granted.
Ningbo Bonded Zone will focus on the innovative development of such five aspects as developing pattern for foreign trade, trade convenience, E-commerce application, integrated development of trade and logistics and financial services.
Since 2010, Ningbo Bonded Zone has been identified as the strategic platform for the construction of Ningbo international trade demonstration area. Over the past two years, the bonded zone has been making efforts to reinforce its main-body function of international trade. By constantly attracting high-quality trade bodies, exploring import trade and promoting innovations, it has established a trade pattern dominated by import trade. In 2011, the volume of imports reached US$9.6, accounting for 25.7% of the total volume of trade, with the rate of import and export reaching 2:1. The zone demonstrated its pilot and radiation role in the open economy development in Zhejiang Province.
In future, Ningbo Bonded Zone will attach more importance to improving imports market of industrial consumer goods and imports market of living consumer goods. It will make efforts to build itself as the "China imports base" and top market in China. By establishing the import goods distribution center, information center and pricing center, it will become a national (even international) foreign trade center.
