First lawyer academy founded

On November 20, Ningbo University and Ningbo Judicial Bureau jointly founded the first lawyer academy in Ningbo, aiming at educating young lawyers with sound theoretical knowledge, practical ability and professional ethics to satisfy the new demands of the economic and social development.
So far, there are 1340 practicing lawyers and 208 trainee solicitors in Ningbo. The legal profession in Ningbo has developed into a stage of a combination of specialization and integration and a focus on both non-litigation and litigation. However, there still exist such problems as low level of internationalization and uneven professional quality of lawyers. The newly founded lawyer academy will definitely play an important role in helping young lawyers with their development and in improving the overall quality of the legal profession.
On November 20, Ningbo University and Ningbo Judicial Bureau signed the cooperative agreement for the co-construction of Ningbo Lawyer Academy and Student Intern Base for the Law College of Ningbo University.
From now on, Ningbo Lawyer Academy will be located in Ningbo University, and by making full use of the teaching faculty and educational resources, such as some well-known legal experts and scholars home and abroad, it will carry out high-end bar practice seminar, training of legal profession and specialized skills, professional ethics education, and continuing education and warning education for lawyers, to produce lawyers of all levels.
In the meanwhile, Ningbo University is to establish its student intern bases in some related law offices. Taking advantage of the practical, inclusive and specialized resources of those offices, the students can take part in those internship activities as legal practice training, operational skills teaching, and values and career educating. Within the framework of the relevant laws and regulations, those offices provide an excellent internship platform for the students to get involved in some stages of litigation and non-litigation affairs or to make some administrative services.
On the afternoon of 20th, the second young lawyers' forum was held with the theme of "young lawyers' career planning and prospects". Xu Jianmin, standing director of Ningbo Bar Association and director of Zhejiang Haitai Law Office, delivered an impressive speech. Experts from Ningbo University, senior lawyers in Ningbo and officials in charge of legal affairs in judicial organizations attended the forum as honored guests and exchanged ideas with the present lawyers
