16 cultural relics protection units in Ningbo selected

as provincial-level cultural relics protection units

The People's Government of Zhejiang Province recently issued a notice announcing the 8th batch of 121 provincial-level cultural relics protection units, and 16 cultural relics protection units in Ningbo have been selected.

According to experts from the Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage Management, the Jingtoushan Site selected for this selection was once rated as one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 2020.

The selected Daxie Site not only discovered the earliest prehistoric remains of the sea salt industry in China, but also provided new materials and perspectives for the study of the development sequence of prehistoric culture and the relationship between human and sea in east Zhejiang.

The selected site of Juzhang Ancient City, built in the Warring States Period, is the earliest city in the history of Ningbo, which is of great significance for understanding and studying the urban development history of Ningbo.

The selected Zhujiang Bridge is located in Zhudong, Zhujiadu Village, Sanqi Town, spanning the Cijiang River (also known as Zhujiang in the local area) from north to south. It was completed in 1966 and has a total length of 101 meters. It is the earliest steel structure iron cable-stayed bridge in Zhejiang Province.

The selected Bihuan Bridge was built in the Ming Dynasty and dates back more than 460 years. It was once rated as one of the top ten famous bridges in Ningbo.

So far, Ningbo has 103 provincial-level cultural relics protection units, accounting for about one tenth of the province and ranking second in the province
