Ningbo released Report of Environment Situation of Ningbo 2011

Under the leadership of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government and with the concerted efforts of all the people of the city, all the governments and departments of all levels have attached great importance to the environmental protection and energy saving and discharge reduction. While maintaining fast economic development, Ningbo has taken solid steps to save natural resources and to protect the ecological environment. This has resulted in great progress in energy saving and discharge reduction, as well as pollution treatment and construction of environmental facilities. In 2011, the COD emission and sulphur dioxide emission are respectively 71,900 tons and 14,500 tons, respectively down by 3.52% and 3.12% over the previous year. The emission of sulphur dioxide and the emission of nitrogen oxides are respectively 155,000 tons and 278,000 tons, respectively down by 3.83% and 1.56% over the previous year. In terms of general environment quality, Ningbo ranks the middle of the 113 key cities for environment protection.
