Ningbo import and export breaking $100 billion mark

According to the latest statistics from Ningbo Customs, for the first half of this year, the foreign trade volume of import and export via Ningbo Port reaches $100.28 billion, up by 3.3% over the same period last year. To be specific, the export volume stands at $62.27 billion, up by 3.6%, and import volume, $38.01 billion, up by 3%.
The import and export volume of private companies ($51. 68 billion, up by 5.4%) accounts for 51.5% of the total, with the growth rate being 2.1% higher than the average rate. 
An increasing number of non-Ningbo enterprises choose Ningbo Port to conduct their import and export transactions. In the first half of 2013, the total volume of import and import for non-Ningbo enterprises reaches $62.87 billion, accounting for 62.7% of the total volume via Ningbo Port. Beijing, Shaoxing and Taizhou are the top three cities among others to conduct foreign trade by means of Ningbo Port. 
The major imports are crude oil, liquid chemicals, and machinery and electronic products, accounting for 68.9% of the total if combined.
The main commodities for export are machinery and electronic products, and there is a stable growth rate for the export of labor-intensive products. The export volume for machinery and electronic products amounts to $29.68 billion, 47.7% of the total export via Ningbo Port, while that for seven other categories of products, including textile, clothing and clothing accessories, footwear, furniture and parts, small home appliances, plastic products and lamp, stands at $ 23.37 billion, 37.5% of the total.
