Ningbo leads major cities in solving crimes

Up to May 17, Ningbo police has cracked down 1,497 cases of economic crimes, securing the second ranking in China’s 32 major cities. Meanwhile, the police has arrested 1,682 criminal suspects, outnumbering the other cities in Zhejiang Province.

In the recent campaign, Ningbo police has received four congratulatory letters from Ministry of Public Security and Provincial Public Security Bureau. Liu Jinguo, Vice Minister of Public Security, highly praised the achievement Ningbo police has made.

In 2012, the Municipal Public Security Bureau has attached great importance to fighting economic crimes. Under the guiding principal of "clearing up more cases and major cases", the city launched a campaign to crack down economic crimes involving finance, taxation, trade, intellectual property and other fields. A large number of high-profile cases in Zhejiang province and even the whole nation have been closed.

To curb the rising credit card frauds in Ningbo, the local police joined local banks to study the characteristics and trends of economic crimes. The move helps them to collect more than 3,400 clues on credit card fraud, and places more than 840 cases, effectively reducing card crimes.

Major economic crimes are the top priority in this campaign. The city police stepped up efforts to crackdown major economic crimes, and cleared up a series of high-profile economic crimes, including a internet pyramid scheme fraud, the "11 • 15 " card fraud, the "3 • 26" fake VAT invoices case, an export tax refund case fraud, and the "11 • 11" counterfeit money case

International Fisheries & Seafood Forum held in Ningbo

Last Friday, China (Ningbo) International Fisheries & Seafood Forum officially kicked off in Ningbo. On the forum, China Minsheng Banking Corp Ltd (CMBC) Ningbo Branch announced its plan to offer new banking services to fishery industry. Ma Weiguang, Vice Mayor of Ningbo, and Mao Xiaofeng, vice president of CMBC, attended the meeting and extended their congratulations.

According to a strategic cooperation agreement between CMBC Ningbo Branch and the marine and fisheries departments at the municipal and county level, CMBC shall further increase the financial support and provide better banking services for marine and fishery industry. Besides, to boost modern fishery & seafood industry in Ningbo, a fishery cooperative and a trading service platform are under construction

Overseas investment of Ningbo increasing rapidly

According to Ningbo Bureau of the State Foreign Exchange Administration Bureau, in the first four months this year, the outward overseas investment by Ningbo enterprises reaches 269 million US dollars, increased by 200% above the same period of the previous year. Of the total, there are 7 projects whose outward investment each is above 5 million US dollars, covering 91% of the outward capital.

The rapid increasing overseas investment of Ningbo is a result of the healthy foreign currency environment. In recent years, the city has taken active measures to encouraged enterprises to "go out". The foreign exchange administration department simplifies the examination and approval procedures and taken such pilot measures as making loans overseas and establishing overseas financing platforms and so on. So far, the banks in Ningbo have registered 315 financing applications and made loans of 367 million US dollars. The banks are the direct channels for the enterprises to go out.

According to a related authority of Ningbo Bureau of Foreign Exchange Administration, The overseas loans by enterprises of Ningbo are mainly for overseas merging and floating capital.

The overseas investment is in the fields of the opening industries of Ningbo: the textile and clothes industries the wholesale and retail industry and the automobile manufacturing industry. Ningbo passed re-examination for a national water saving city

According to the supervision center of Ningbo Municipal Bureau of City Management, recently the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Construction announced that 19 cities entitled national water saving cities have passed the re-examination for 2011 and Ningbo is one of the cities.

In March 2007, Ningbo was honored as a national water saving city. Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government have attached great importance to water saving. It constantly improves the work mechanism and has set up special departments in charge of the work of water saving in the city. The coordinated work of various departments leads to a good environment for the work of water saving in the city.

Meanwhile, the city attached great importance to the formulation of regulations and rules. In 2010 the city released "Rules on Urban Water Supply and Water Saving of Ningbo", standardizing and institutionalizing the work of water saving.

At present Ningbo has 55 enterprises (units) entitled model enterprises (units) of water saving and 93 communities (living quarters) entitled model communities (living quarters) of water saving.

On the annual "World Water Day", "World Environment Day" and "National Urban Water Saving Week", Ningbo organizes activities to popularize water saving about the public.
