Ninghai Ecological Construction Ranked First in Ningbo

The other day, Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau released the 2012 Ningbo Environment Situation Bulletin. Ninghai County ranked the first in Ningbo City with an ecological index of 91.2. As a national ecological demonstration county, the index of regional environmental noise and traffic noise of Ninghai are the lowest in Ningbo.
To fulfill the construction of the National Ecological County and ecological civilization, Ninghai carried out several special environment protection actions. During the eleventh five-year period, the county government has vetoed 487 projects which do not meet the requirements of environmental protection, with an investment of over 700 million Yuan. In 2011, 32 enterprises were shut down for illegal emission, 17 enterprises were ordered to rectify themselves with time limit. 42 enterprises were closed down and 189 administrative penalties were made. To strengthen the network of environment monitoring, Ninghai set up an environment monitoring center, built 3 automatic monitoring stations of atmosphere and implement online monitoring of 24 key enterprises.
To improve the rural living environment and improve the life quality of urban residents, Ninghai has made great effort in environmental protection, new rural construction and forest planting. Till the end of 2011, Ninghai had 4 national ecological villages and towns, 17 provincial ecological villages and towns (communities), 139 municipal ecological villages as well as 28 provincial green units and 54 municipal green units.
