17 Enterprises in Yinzhou Realized Annual Water Conservation of 1.2 Million Tons

Sun Yinjun, a director of Yinzhou Xinxing Knitting Company, said recently, “We have invested 1.33 million yuan into water treatment. Now printing and dyeing every 100-meter cotton fabrics consumes only 0.4-ton water and we have conserved 7,400 tons of water in the last 6 months.” As the thorough advancing of the water co-treatment strategy, 17 biggest water consumers represented by Xinxing Knitting in Yinzhou are now transformed into “water conservation pioneers” with annual water conservation over 1.2 million tons.
These 17 enterprises consist of 15 printing and dyeing enterprises and 2 papermaking ones. After the campaign of water co-treatment was launched, the Economic and Information Commission and the Environment Protection Ministry enlarged their endeavor in supporting and supervising. On the one hand, they encourage and guide these enterprises to expand their investment in technological reform and adopt advanced techniques and equipment. On the other hand, they strengthen the efforts in supervising illegal discharge and pressing enterprises to conserving and treating water.
Reclaimed water recycling is a crucial measure for enterprises’ water conservation. For instance, after investing 5.73 million yuan in it, Changfeng Knitting can reduce 25,000 tons of wastewater discharge annually and the recycle rate of wastewater climbs up to 50% from 35%. This measure helps 15 printing and dyeing enterprises reach the provincial standard of wastewater recycle rate required.
The increasing costs of energy consumption force enterprises to choose water-conserving machines. Ningbo Bull Paper Company Limited actively knocked out the assembly lines with 10,000 tons of annual output and reformed them into those with 30,000 tons. They also invested 2 million yuan to update equipment and employ senior artisans and started its production of leather decorative papers. Thereafter, the energy consumption cost including water consumption can be reduced 30% compared to previous days with the unabated output. Besides, the price of qualified leather decorative papers reaches 3500 yuan/ton.
Many enterprises also actively dug out the potential of internal management to remold the pipelines in the plant and build a reservoir. The reservoir can store the processed water from workshops and also reserve clean rainwater, for showering flowers, flushing off the plant as well as for reproduction. Through water recycling, enterprises minimized their relying on the river network and reduced the wastewater discharge.
