Family farms in Fenghua promotes modern agriculture

Recently, the Fengnong Family Farm in Qiucun Village, one of the municipal demonstration family farms, has witnessed prosperous business. This is just one example of the urban modern agricultural development promoted by the family farms in Fenghua County. Statistics show that by the end of 2015, there had been 579 family farms in the county, covering such fields as vegetable and fruit plantations, tea plantations, ranches and aquaculture farms.
Shen Guojun, a fruit and vegetable farmer from Daoshanling Village of Jinping Street, possesses a pollution-free and green vegetable plantation with an area of over 130 mu. In 2013, he started his "Haotian" Family farm, equipped with advanced vegetable pesticide residue detectors and ten distribution vehicles, and established close production-sales cooperation with a dozen of planting and breeding bases.
Led by the leading planters like Shen Guojun, the villagers in the neighborhood have started to plant more pollution-free and green vegetables, which has helped to promote the sales of the special and high-quality agricultural produce and led to addition of agricultural income. According to preliminary statistics, there are now about 10,000 mu of green vegetable plantations, and many planters and cultivators adopt the "plantation + farm" model, which has effectively driven the industrial and work transfer for the farmers.
In recent years, Fenghua County has focused on the support of family farms to develop the urban modern agriculture. Great support has been given to some featured and large-scale family farms to promote the green vegetable planting by the family farms and the special aquaculture. The Aigedun Family Farm innovatively held the fruit picking festival and the tourist culture festival, attracted about 20,000 visitors. In the winter, the Lamb Farm, located in Shangtian town, launched such featured tourist programs as the lamb roasting and intelligent expansion games, and attracted a large group of tourists. So far, the farm has established cooperation with the work unions of 29 enterprises, and the enterprises will organize such activities as intelligence expansion games and mountain climbing for their staff to have a personal experience of the farm tours. In 2015, the farm received 25,000 visitors. The Youran Family Farm in Shangtian Town, with 23 mu strawberry field, launched the strawberry picking activity and received 3700 tourists within a month.
Meanwhile, Fenghua Agriculture and Forestry bureau started to provide face-to-face guidance to the recommended family farms in accordance with the requirements of the demonstration family farms. By setting up the production archives and completing the cost assessment, it has helped the family farms improve their operation. So far, eight family farms in the county have been identified as provincial demonstration family farms and 13 as municipal demonstration family farms.
