Equipment Industrial Base in Beilun selected as national demonstration base for new industrialization

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the 2015 list of "national demonstration bases for new industrialization", and the Equipment Industrial Base of Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Zone is included among the 34 selected bases, the only one base in Ningbo included in the list.
The Equipment Industrial Base, located in Beilun District, consists of the four major blocks of Xiaogang Equipment Industrial Base, the Automobile Industrial Base, the Daqi High-end Mold and Auto Parts Industrial Base, and Dagang High-tech Industrial Base, with such leading industries as injection molding machines, intelligent equipment, automobile and parts, molding, and electrical machinery, and it attracts such leading equipment enterprises as Geely Group, Haitian Plastics Machinery, Tuopu Group, Orient Cable and Hongxun Technology.
In 2015, despite the general downward pressure of the industrial economy, the equipment industry in Beilun District maintained a rapid development. The large-scale equipment enterprises achieved a total output value of 78.24 billion yuan, up by 14.5% over the previous year, accounting for 35.1% of the total output value of the large-scale industry in the district, serving as the major industry of the industrial economy of Beilun District.
Reportedly, the construction of the "national demonstration bases for new industrialization" was firstly launched by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2009, with the aim of building about 300 national demonstration bases for new industrialization with distinctive industrial features, strong innovative capacity, excellent brand images, good supporting policies, high-standard energy saving and environmental protection capacity, and leading industrial scale and influence during the 12th Five-year Plan period. It is hoped that those bases can serve as important carriers for the country's industrial transformation and upgrading, the important engines for promoting regional economy, and the important force for international industrial competition. So far, seven yearly lists of the demonstration bases have been issued.
