The founding ceremony for the Association for the Promotion of Hi-tech Enterprises of Beilun was held in the afternoon of March, 13. The ceremony was also the first assembly meeting for all the members. Officials present on the meeting presided over by Hu Xiuqin, deputy director general of Beilun Science and Technology Office included Xu Bin, Beilun’s deputy district mayor, Xiong Renzhang, deputy secretary-general of the Association for the Promotion of Hi-tech Enterprises and some other officials from Beilun .
The meeting passed the regulations of the association and settled its organization. He Cailin, president of Xuelong Group was elected the chairman. Xuelong Group together with Haitian Group and the Port City Science and Technology Service Center took the initiative to set up the association, a non-profit and non-governmental organization that already has 108 members. Served as a bridge between the government and enterprises, the association has the responsibilities to publicize national policies for the development of high and new technologies, promote the communication and coordination among hi-tech enterprises as well as launch training, consultation and innovation-promoting programs etc, with the aim to build itself into a comprehensive service center so as to accelerate the progress of the industrialization of high and new technologies and promote the rapid development of Beilun’s economy.

In this good season of spring, the citizen of Beilun District are very enthusiastic to plant trees. From this month, the district has organized various programs for voluntary tree planting and the citizens are encouraged to plant trees for better life.
According to the plan, by 2015, the district will basically have built an afforestation network. In 2012, the district passed the acceptance check as a provincial forest city. In 2013, the district will put 450 million yun in the construction of the green web that is as much as 3 million sq meters. This plan is met with enthusiastic response from all circles of the society. Beilun Forest Fund and Beilun Carbon Stock Fund, two public welfare funds, were established in 2011. Since then, they have received donations of over 40 million yuan from over 40 enterprises in the district. 7 enterprises have agreed to undertake afforestation projects of 156,000 sq meters, involving investment of 21,500,000 yuan.
“To mobilize the society to participate in the construction of the green web not only effectively expand the financing channels but also raise the environmental awareness of the public,” said Liu Xinhua, director of the leading group of the green web construction of Beilun. The diversified investment mechanism has made initial results. In recent three years, the district has put in 22 million yuan as subsidies for the village and township funded afforestation projects, which add up to 50 million yuan. The enthusiasm of the citizen of Beilun District to plant trees keeps rising. The donations by Haitian Company, Tenglong Company, Qiuguan Company and Ridi Company add up to 7.3 million yuan for green belts of 80,000 sq meters.
