Exhibition of Ningbo treasures opened

An exhibition of the treasures of Haishu District, Beilun District and Fenghua City opened in the art gallery of Tianyi Pavilion Museum the other day. The exhibition has 160 treasures ranging from the Warring States to the modern times. They are in two categories, 115 porcelain works and 45 painting and calligraphic works.

Ningbo increased cargo handling capacity

In the first three quarters this year, Ningbo invested 4.711 billion yuan in water transport infrastructural facilities. The construction of the key water transport projects including Meishan Container Wharf and the fifth Beilun Container Wharf are going on smoothly, with the cargo handling capacity increased by 56 million tons. This effectively relieved the structural imbalance of port and shipping infrastructure. According to a meeting on port and shipping,

in the first three quarters this year, the cargo-handling capacity and the throughput of containers the port of Ningbo amounted to 336 million tons and 11,972,000 TEUs, both being new highs in the history. The port has 706 container ships, whose DWT reaches 5,639,000 tons, ranking No.1 of the province. The ships inspected total 972, 1,408,700 in tonnage. The infrastructure of the port and transport is further improved.

Xiangshan Port Bridge to be completed

It is learned from the related departments that Xiangshan Port Bridge will be completed and open to traffic at the end of this year. Then, it will only take less than one hour to drive from the downtown area of Ningbo to Xiangshan County.

The building of the bridge will change the disadvantaged traffic status of Xiangshan Peninsula by involving it in the "one-hour traffic circle" of Ningbo. Meanwhile, it will include Xiangshan in the golden traveling line composed of such areas as Shanghai, Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge, Ningbo (Dongqian Lake and Xiangshan County), Wenzhou and Taizhou.

Bridge attracting more tourists

Mr. Zhang, a manager from a tourist agency, says that with its beautiful scenery and delicious seafood, Xiangshan County has a lot of tourist advantages, while it is a pity that the tourism used to be limited by its inconvenient jouney. "As there is no shortcut to Xiangshan, even if you start off at 8 o'clock, you will arrive at about 11 o'clock. That means you have to make it at least a two-day trip", he said. Great changes will take place with the construction of the bridge. Even if it’s on weekdays, people from downtown Ningbo can drive to Xiangshan in less than an hour to enjoy the scenery and the seafood, which means it is possible to have a half-day trip there.

Toy companies confronted with new export challenges

It is learned from Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that according to American Toy Association, the two effective dates of instruction of 2011/65/EU (or RoHS2.0), the EU's new instruction for hazardous substances in electronic and electrical (E & E) toys, are approaching. The revised instruction will cover all the toys with electronic or electrical functions. Some elements of the instruction will come into effect on January 2, 2013.

As is known, the RoHS instruction was first released in 2003. It imposed restrictions on such substances as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ether in the specific types of electronic and electrical equipments and toys lest the proscribed materials be disposed of or released into the environment.

Ningbo ranking among "2012 Best Leisure Cities in China"

It is learned on October 31 from the 2012 Results Release Meeting of Comprehensive Evaluation of China Leisure Cities as well as the 2012 Forum of China Resort Cities held in Yantai, Shandong Province, that Ningbo got the award of "2012 Best Leisure Cities in China", the second time in succession since last year.
