Ningbo Promotes Comprehensive Green Construction

On August 13, Municipal Construction Committee came the news that the municipal government issued Ningbo City Green Building Action Plan, in which it is said that by the end of 2015, it shall have green building area of 10 million square meters, accounting for 20% of the city's new buildings, that it shall renovate over 30% the area of existing buildings or one million square meters,.
According to the plan, new buildings of government investment must be of green ones, including offices, schools, hospitals, museums, science museums, stadiums, affordable housing projects, as well as any airport with an area of more than 20,000 square meters, railway stations, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, office buildings and other large public buildings and other buildings funded by the government, and all are well monitored. At the same time, there will be a green, low-carbon ecological demonstration zones in the eastern town to ensure that from 2014 on, the core area of the eastern town will construct new building in full accordance with green building standards.


Vigorously promote reforming existing buildings in terms of energy-saving. Reforms will be underway in small alleys, old quarters, etc. by the end of 2015, it is expected to complete 800,000 square metres of public buildings and 200,000 metres of residential quarters. Pilot sites of reform will be scaled up, including public buildings, hospitals, hotels, malls and schools, etc.
Full furnish will take place in the affordable housing projects and industrialized housing pilot projects funded by the government. Encouragement will be given to formula furnishing in promoting both individualized and unified furnishing.
In addition, from 2015, Ningbo will impose energy consumption quotas on large office buildings with its influence spreading to large public buildings. Those in excess of the quotas will be given punitive electricity prices.
