On the afternoon of July 22, the No.1 container terminal of Chuanshan Port passed the approval, and then the number of container terminals of the port reached 11,
and the length of the coastline of the berths reached 3,740 meters. This marks the completion of the building of the container terminal area of the Chuanshan Port, the second largest container terminal in the world.
The No.1 container terminal, as the extension project of the west section of the Chuanshan Port container terminal area, is designed as a 70,000-ton-level container terminal and the supporting facilities. The main structure of the terminal is designed to accommodate the 150,000-ton-level containers, with the terminal coastline being 330 meters in length and 55 meters in width, and the annual container capacity of 620,000 TEUs. The project was officially started in December 2018, and was completed in June 2020, with a total investment of 530 million yuan.
As the “main battlefield” of container transport and production of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the container terminal area of Chuanshan Port can meet the berthing requirement of the world’s largest container ship. With the annual container throughput exceeding 10 million TEUs for three consecutive years, accounting for nearly 40% of the annual container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the container terminal area is the second largest single container terminal in the world. According to a person in charge from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group, the overall completion of the container terminal in the Chuanshan Port will further improve the overall layout of container berths in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, and enhance the container throughput capacity and core competitiveness of the port
