Holiday consumer market of Ningbo surges

The surging crowds in the shopping mall, the incessant calling sound in front of the restaurants, and the sound of payment in popular stores, are the epitomes of the continuous surging of the consumer market in Ningbo during this year’s Mid-autumn Festival and the National Day holiday.

On the afternoon of October 7, the monitoring data released by Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce showed that from September 29 to October 6, the 50 key monitored sample enterprises in the city achieved a total sales volume of 1.381 billion yuan.

The “Asian Games economy” has fueled the consumer market and created a particularly strong festive atmosphere.

Xiangshan County, taking advantage of the Asian Games, has launched the “Asian Games” Fair, the China-Chic Consumer Festival and other activities. Accommodation and catering enterprises such as Songlan Mountain Seaview Hotel and Donggu Lake Resort achieved a revenue of 9.4 million yuan in the first six days of the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%.

Tianyi Square in Haishu District has chosen to live stream popular Asian Games events during the holiday, providing citizens with a comprehensive viewing experience. On October 1, Tianyi Square experienced its peak holiday passenger flow, with over 35,5000 visitors. The revenue of the sports brand stores increased by over 30% year-on-year.

The stable performance of shopping malls and supermarkets remains the main driving force for holiday consumption. Data show that seven shopping malls in Haishu District achieved the sales of 140 million yuan in the first four days of the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%; the sales of 10 shopping malls in Yinzhou District increased by 8.2% year-on-year during the holiday, and the passenger flow increased by 30% year-on-year; the Raffles Plaza, Ningbo MIXC, and the Wanda Plaza, all located in Jiangbei District, achieved the sales of 117 million yuan from September 29 to October 5, a year-on-year increase of 50.3%.

“Six musical bands, including Nanquan Mama, came to the music festival, the first LEGO Carousel exhibition in Zhejiang was held and the urban stamp collection event was launched, attracting many citizens to come and have fun. In the first seven days of the holiday, Ningbo MIXC achieved the sales of over 68 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 138%, with a passenger flow of 430,000 people, a year-on-year increase of 125%.” said a person in charge from Ningbo MIXC. The revenue of catering enterprises increased by nearly 120%, and the sales of jewelry accessories increased by 126% year-on-year.

The sales of bulk commodities are hot, especially for such goods as household appliances and automobiles. The sample household appliance enterprises under key monitoring achieved the sales of over 100 million yuan during the 8-day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%; the sales of communication equipment such as mobile phones exceeded 23 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 52%. During the same period, eight key monitored automobile dealers achieved the sales of 159 million yuan. In Yinzhou District, the sales of such new energy vehicle brands as Xiaopeng and BYD doubled year-on-year in the first seven days of the holiday, and the car sales in the urban exhibition halls of Yinzhou IN-City increased by over 30% year-on-year
