The construction for the rail transit Line 1 has begun. Let's focus on the future rail transit transport network. What conveniences can it bring to us?
Ningbo's railway transit is designed to cover downtown Ningbo, Yuyao, Cixi and Fenghua, with a total length of 247.5km. It will be downtown-centric, crossing over Yaojiang River, Yongjiang River and Fenghua River. Line 1, 2 and 3 are arterial lines, while Line 4, 5 and 6 are auxiliary lines, with easy transfer from line to line. Line 1 will be firstly built, which consists of two phases. Phase 1 is the railway construction from West Gaoqiao to East Outer Ring, with an overall length of 21.3km; Phase 2 from East Outer Ring to Beilun, 23.3km long.
Phase 1 will be launched soon. It begins at Gaoqiao County in the east, going east as viaduct through the green belt scheduled to be built between Wangchun Road and Houtang River till the west side of Airport Highway. Then it passes through East Bus Terminal, Daqing Bridge, West Gate, Drum Tower, City Government and Tianyi Square along East Zhongshan Road as subway. After crossing the Fenghuajiang River, it travels through Sakura Park, Century Avenue, Ningchuan Highway to the destination of East Outer Ring. There will be 20 stops, with 5 viaduct stops and 15 subway stops. It is planned to complete by 2014.
Dismantlement work for Rail Transit Line 1 starts
With the construction beginning for the Phase-1 project of the transit line 1, the dismantlement work has begun simultaneously. It paves a way for the smooth going of the construction.
Rail transit line 1 is planned to go through the downtown area, and the removal work involves the interest of various parties. In face of the impact may incurred, many citizens still say that they would support the project.
A resident says: we will support the construction of rail transit because it is a major event for the Ningbo city and people in Ningbo.
It is a large project, and some areas of parks and schools will be expropriated to store facilities and materials for the project, which will affect people's life.
Wang Haoliang at Jiangdong Central Primary School: Problems with students'playground and safety issues may arise in the next few years, but we will try our best to cooperate with the Rail Transit Construction Office and reduce the negative impact.
In Jiangdong district, rail transit construction becomes a top priority on the agenda. Civil servants and community workers formed removal working groups to negotiate with the households to be relocated. Dozens of households signed agreement of intent in two days.
Shou Jianyu with Important Project Office: We can complete agreement signing with one fifth of the residential households today. As for non-residential households, 6 out of 11 have signed it. That's 60%.
The removal area for Line 1 is 300,000km², with 220,000 km² to be completed this year. Citizens show great support for the project because it will bring opportunities of development to the city and convenience to the people.
