With the constructors for the eight stations from Wangchun station to the Dongwaihuan Station coming in place, the full-scale construction for the Rail transit Line 1 is to start soon.
According to the city's construction plan, According to the city's construction plan, the rail transit line 1 and line 2 shall be accomplished by 2015.. The Line 1 runs from west to east, going through the Sanjiangkou area, the eastern urban center. It will be built in two phases: phase 1 goes from west Gaoqiao to Dongwaihuan and phase 2 goes from Dongwaihuan to Beilun.
The construction scheme for the phase 1 project passed expert appraisal in February. The lines and station setup have been approved by authorities. The reconnaissance work has been finished.
As it is a huge project requiring a long period of time to accomplish, four problems need to be addressed: resettlement and requisition of land, relocation of pipelines, relocation of green land and traffic decongestion. The phase one project will involve the demolishing of 300,000 square meters of houses, out of which 220,000 square meters will have to be finished within the year. The governments in Haishu, Jiangdong and Yinzhou have signed agreements with households and work units involved. Some relocating work has already started.
