Last Sunday, Ningbo glowed with the arrival of
a number of pop stars, such as Yuan Quan, Cao Fang, Ding Dang and the
Boy& Girl Group. They came here to attend the fifth concert of the
Chinese Pop Music Chart.
The first performer was Ding Dang from Jiaxing, Zhejiang province.
She was warmly welcomed by the audience. She may be short, but is full
of power and passion. The excited audience was quieted down by two of
her lyric songs.
Next came a jubilant-rhythmic Olympic song by the Boy& Girl
Group, called "the Sky Dream". which stirred the mood of all, while Cao
Fang's "Meeting Me" brought the audience back to those campus days.
Of course, the climax came when Yuan Quan, the ice beauty,
appeared. This was not her first trip to Ningbo, as she has fond
memories of our delicious Ningbo food Yuan Quan recalled that all the
dishes she ate last year were tasty, especially one called deep fried
Tangyuan (rice dumpling), "it was so savory." She said.

The college grads service month has kicked off
and seven job fairs targeting graduating students will be given
successively. On November23rd the arts and economy fair was held in
Zheda Ningbo Engineering Institute. There, we found that booths of
downtown-based enterprises were full of job-hunters, while those of
companies based in remote counties seemed not popular among the
students.
At 8:00 o'clock in the morning, the fair was already filled with
graduating students from various colleges and universities of the city.
Crowds of students had gathered around the booths of enterprises
subordinate to government departments, Bank of Ningbo and the like. Xiao
Chen, a student of NBU: Enterprises like Bank of Ningbo can offer more
opportunities and a better welfare and salary. Hopefully, I can get a
job that offers a good pay.
A student by the surname of Gong from Northeast University wanted a
job in a foreign trade company. He expected to work in a place not far
away from downtown area.
After interviewing other students we found many of them shared the
similar mentality with Gong. They preferred to work in urban areas.
That was why the stands of enterprises far from downtown were left out
in the cold, with few people coming in. Just take a look at this
garment company. It is located at Fenghua County. This time it came to
the fair with more than 10 job openings of management and technology.
But in the morning they only received no more than 10 applications. The
personnel said it seemed that graduates nowadays have a city complex,
more or less. According to the statistics of Ningbo Human
Resource Market, for the first three quarters of this year, the city's
demand for talents was 98,000 while there were 320000 applicants
available. We know the decline of demand was due to economic downturn.
But for the graduating students, experts said, no matter what the
exterior environment is like, it's inevitable for graduates to have a
job; So to have a proper goal and stay confident is of foremost
importance for each graduating student.

On this Wednesday, an integrated recruitment
fair was held in Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Center.
The fair was initiated by National Human Resource Market and was
arranged exclusively for graduating students. 270 enterprises appeared in the fair and offered 3,967 job vacancies
in such areas as marketing, international trade, administration,
information technology, finance and management. Since, the fair was
open free for all prospective graduates, many universities and colleges
allow their students to go to the fair. The number of students on the
first day totaled 12,000 and about 5,000 students obtained the chance
for further interview. The employment the present time is said to be in a serious situation
due to the international financial crisis and the slow growth of
domestic economy. To help prospective graduates find jobs, Ningbo
Talents Development Service Center plans to organize 8 recruitment
fairs from November 19 to December 13, which is welcomed by
universities in Ningbo, including Ningbo University, Ningbo Institute
of Technology Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Wanli Institute, Zhejiang
Textile and Garments Institute and Ningbo Dahongying Institute.
