Ningbo-Zhoushan Port develops domestic and international circulation

On April 28, a sea-rail intermodal train loaded with 60 TEUs of outdoor furniture and other goods set out from Xixian (Xinyang) Railway Station to Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. This is the first time that the train has been opened. It is learned from relevant departments that the annual container volume target of Ningbo sea-rail intermodal transport this year is to break through 1.2 million TEUs, the heavy container rate will remain above 50%, and more than two inland dry ports will be added.
Ningbo is the location of the world's largest cargo port and the world's third largest container port, as well as one of the world's largest shipping hubs. Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo, with the reputation of "Oriental Port", has continued its efforts to build a key node of domestic and international circulation. In the first quarter, the cargo throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was 290 million tons, up by 17.1% over the same period of last year, among which the cargo throughput of Ningbo Port was 150 million tons, an increase of 17.8%. The container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was 7.689 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%, among which the container throughput of Ningbo Port was 7.22 million TEUs, an increase of 24.0%.

Behind the active port production is the strong recovery of China's economy. Aiming at the vigorous development of domestic demand market, Ningbo has been vigorously developing its sea-rail intermodal transport. At present, the sea-rail intermodal transport network has covered nearly half of China, providing a strong logistics and transportation guarantee for China to accelerate the formation of a new development pattern of domestic and international circulation.
Chuanshan Port is the third "ten-million level" container terminal in the world. Since the beginning of this year, Chuanshan Port Railway Station has actively optimized the number of operation routes and the management of pick-up and delivery of trains. It has opened many lines connecting Ningbo and Xiaoshan, Ningbo and Hefei and Ningbo and Chongqing. At present, it has five fixed train routes and four sporadic train routes. As of May 6, Chuanshan Port Railway Station has completed 71,358 TEUs of sea-rail intermodal transport this year, exceeding the total volume of last year.
While opening up the mainland market, Ningbo also gives full play to its location advantages of the intersection of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" to build a hard core port. On April 13, a batch of goods with the trade name of "valves and accessories" were loaded into the container steadily by a forklift, then together with the other three batches of export goods, they were transported to Hong Kong by freighter. This marks the start of the first international trans-shipment business of Ningbo-Zhoushan port.
"Since the Ningbo area of Zhejiang Free Trade Zone was approved, we have been making full use of our policy advantages to actively expand new business such as international transshipment and pooling, thus polishing the golden business card of the port." said a person in charge from Ningbo Customs.
Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has seized the opportunity of the rapid growth of ASEAN and other major export markets, and added a number of routes including those to Southeast Asia. The total number of container routes has reached 266, striking a new record.
The construction of port infrastructure has been steadily promoted. This year, some major projects have been progressing smoothly, including the 6-10 container terminal projects of Meishan Port and the first phase of of the reconstruction project of the Union Terminal of Beilun Port. Among them, the No. 8 berth of Meishan Port has passed the acceptance and the No. 9 berth has completed the main structure. Some projects have started construction, like the second phase of the Xiaotian Bay Oil Depot by Xinhai Oil Storage Co., Ltd., and the terminal project of Xiangshan International Aquatic Logistics Park by China Co-op Group. Some projects have passed or will pass the approval, including the east loading terminal (with a loading capacity of 35,000 tons), the unloading terminal and the west loading terminal of the Zhongzhai Ore Terminal Project.
Ports are the barometers of economy. In the first quarter, the average port prosperity index of Ningbo Port was 116.8 points, up by 7.3% year on year; The confidence index of port enterprises was 109.8 points, up by 15.3% year on year. "As the epidemic situation in many countries continues to slow down, the export is gaining momentum for development, and the port continues to run well, with a promising future." said a person in charge from Ningbo Port and Shipping Management Center
