The 12th China (Nanning) International Garden and Flower Expo closed recently. Ningbo Garden won the “Outstanding Exhibition Garden Award” for the outdoor exhibition competition. It also won special competition awards such as “Excellent Design Exhibition Garden”,“Quality Construction Exhibition Garden”, “Best Plant Configuration Exhibition Garden” and “Excellent Architectural Pieces Exhibition Garden”.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Urban Management Bureau, the International Garden and Flower Expo is the highest and largest garden and flower exhibition in China, held every two years.  As a national garden city, Ningbo has been invited to participate in the 8 Garden Expos held in Shenzhen, Xiamen, Jinan, Chongqing, Beijing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Nanning. In each session, Ningbo Garden has a clear theme and a good landscape effect, winning a high honor. The 12th Garden Expo was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Nanning Municipal People's Government. It opened in Nanning in December 2018 and attracted many domestic and foreign cities, institutions, enterprises and individuals.

It is reported that the construction of Ningbo Garden started at the end of June 2018 and was completed at the end of the year.  With the theme of “Livable Ningbo”, Ningbo Garden takes Tianyige garden landscape as a template to create a typical classical private garden in the coastal area of Jiangnan(South of Yangtze River). The overall layout is a pool and five scenes, with “Tianyi Pool”in the center, surrounded by a high wall and narrow alley, Tianyi Hall, Lion Hill with Bamboo Shadow, Quyi Lanting and birdman dream. The main entrance begins with an ancient maritime silk road carving, which explains the development goals of Ningbo “promoting the city with a port and promoting the port with the city”. The gate building is designed with the traditional high-wall narrow lanes of Ningbo combined with the elements of the Ningbo Museum. It adopts the traditional “corrugated wall” form with rich local characteristics in the eastern part of Zhejiang Province, and the layered frame is attractive.  The inner court is a garden landscape with a combination of carefully arranged landscape pavilions. The main scene is designed with the freehand culture symbol as a “birdman dream” wall.  While demonstrating Ningbo's history and culture, Ningbo Park integrates the concept of sponge city and uses recycled materials to create an ecologically livable and sustainable garden
