No. 1 Hospital celebrates 100th anniversary

The No. 1 Ningbo Hospital held its 100th anniversary celebration in Ningbo Grand Theatre on October 26. Meanwhile, 24 doctors and nurses received medals for working for 50 years in the hospital.

The No. 1 Hospital, formerly known as the Public Hospital of Yin County, was established in Ningbo 100 years ago. It has now developed into a modern hospital with more than 2,000 employees, 1,600 ward beds, and 40 clinical departments. The hospital received 1.8 million emergency outpatients every year. Focusing on research, teaching, and prevention, it is rated as a comprehensive third-grade A-level hospital.

Dr. Ruan Liemin, head of the hospital, said, "our success today is based on the diligence and devotion of our forerunners in the past century. What happened today will become tomorrow's history. To inspire and inherit the dedication of our previous generation, we decide to award prizes to our 24 honored employees on the occasion of the 100th anniversary."

The 24 award winners are doctors and nurses in the hospital. Among them, the 89 -year-old Dr. Lou Chuijiu is the oldest doctor working in the hospital. He was born in 1925. Since 1953, he has been working in radiology department for 60 years. When Dr. Lou received the medal, the audience burst into big applause. Dr. Lou's diligence and dedication earned him many awards. He was awarded a number of provincial and municipal titles as model workers. He also attended a series of national exchange conferences.

"When I am getting old, memories became clear in my mind ...," When Ni Suqin recalled her working days through a video tape, the audience burst into applause. Now living overseas, Ms. Ni was the nursing director from 1953 to 1989 in the hospital. She is 100 years old now.
