According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Water Environment Group, Ningbo began to explore the use of recycled water as early as 2013. Nowadays, recycled water is becoming the "second water source" of Yongcheng and plays an important role in social life.

Water quality is constantly rising

The Lujia River, located in Yinzhou District, has a total length of just over 1,000 meters, and there are three sub-districts on both sides of the river: Lu Jiajiayuan, Bobo City and Longqinhai. At that time, the Lujiahe River was smelly and dirty, and the citizens living nearby had great opinions. The Lujiahe recycled water recharge pilot project came into being: the recycled water produced by the sewage treatment plant in the northeast of Jiangsu was used to recharge the river channel through purification, so that the water came alive. The daily replenishment of 20,000 tons of recycled water makes the Lujia River from the original smelly and dirty to the bottom.

Since then, the sewage treatment plants in the city have been renamed as purified water plants, and behind the name change is the continuous improvement of the production process, which has also made the quality of recycled water continue to rise. Taking Fuming Water Purification Plant (formerly Jiangbei District Sewage Treatment Plant) as an example, the process of sewage treatment has been changed from the original "coagulation-precipitation-filtration" to a more advanced membrane treatment process (membrane bioreactor).

Relevant data show that at present, the treatment process of recycled water in our city as an ecological water replenishment has matured, and it has also formulated high enterprise standards, and the production volume is also greatly improved while the water quality is improved. Among them, the sewage treatment capacity has increased from 221.5 million square meters in 2013 to 330.12 million cubic meters in 2021, and it is expected to reach 343.78 million cubic meters by the end of this year, which is 1.5 times that of 9 years ago. The recycled water produced on the basis of sewage treatment has climbed from 1.19 million square meters in 2013 to 19.12 million cubic meters in 2021, and is expected to reach 45 million cubic meters by the end of this year.

The usefulness is getting bigger and bigger

With such a large increase, what can recycled water play for? As we all know, Ningbo's manufacturing industry is developed, and enterprises with high water consumption such as steel manufacturing and power production account for a relatively large proportion of the industrial economy. Ningbo Water Environment Group advocates "quality water supply, excellent water use", separates the water supply of large industrial enterprises from the urban tap water supply, so that high-quality water is supplied to the people, and the growing recycled water is gradually incorporated into the industrial water supply system.

In addition to continuing to "quench the thirst" of industrial enterprises with high water consumption, today's recycled water has further benefited the people. Municipal sanitation sprinklers use it to sprinkle water to sweep the floor, water flowers and trees, and irrigate green plants on elevated shelves. In the first half of this year, recycled water was also put into use on automatic car wash devices, allowing car owners to bathe their cars with more environmentally friendly water resources.

The Ningbo model of recycled water utilization has also made Ningbo successfully selected into the list of the first batch of pilot cities for the allocation of recycled water utilization in typical areas in the country. According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Water Environment Group, the city strives to achieve more than 35% of the utilization rate of recycled water by 2025, the reuse amount to more than 700,000 tons / day, and the pipeline construction to more than 100 kilometer
