First day of Spring Festival travel rush sees 280,000 passengers

January 10, the first day of Spring Festival travel rush, sees a significant increase of passengers in Ningbo Railway Station. “The company bought tickets for us. Although the train departs in the early morning, I am still very happy at the thought of going home to celebrate the Spring Festival,” said Mr. Li who works in a company in Jiangbei District, Ningbo.

Around 5 p.m., the station was even busier. For the reason that it was also during the weekend, the waiting hall was packed. On January 10, Ningbo railway station was predicted to handle 77,800 passengers, rising by around 20,000.

Ningbo Railway Station plans to add 13 pairs of trains during the 2020 Spring Festival travel rush, including trains to Xinxiang, Guiyang, Chongqing, Fuyang, Nanchang West, Yichun, Zhaotong. For some of the trains arrive or depart from Ningbo in the early morning, early morning bus lines will be arranged Ningbo Highway Transport Management Center during the Spring Festival.

Ningbo Lishe International Airport's T2 terminal was not as crowded as the train station, but it was still busier than usual. Whether it is at railway stations or bus stations or part of rail transit station or part of highway stations, there is ginger tea, spring festival couplets, cushions, which adds to the festive atmosphere. Voluntary services such as guiding and helping to buy tickets make Ningbo a city full of friendliness and warmth.

It is learned from Ningbo Spring Festival Travel Rush Office that an estimated 283,300 passengers are expected to depart Ningbo on January 10, of which 57,000 are by road, 181,000 by railway, 7,650 by waterway and 35,000 by air.

Ningbo Highway Transport Management Center is also going to arrange early morning bus lines towards bus stations for some early-morning-train passengers from Guiyang, Chongqing, Chengdu and Zhaotong
