New Eastern Urban Area plans to invest 45 billion in coming three years

This year marks the 10th year of the development of the New Eastern Urban Area (NEUA). On February 15, news comes from the headquarters that a new three-year development plan for the NEUA has come out. According to the plan, 45 billion yuan is to be invested, with its total investment to reach one hundred billion yuan. It aims to build a new power house for the city’s economy.
In the coming 3 years, the Area will pace up land requisition and demolishing, as well as introduction of investment. 73 function projects are planned to be built, and 11 central plazas and public squares will be completed and put into use. It is aimed to realize the overall target of establishing a core area and promoting the eastern area.
The core of "three centers" construction is to boost industry transformation and upgrading. The World Trade Center is operating smoothly; No. 11 block has basically been completed and No. 12 plot, Expansion Zone will start construction; shipping center comes to its mature stage, the phase-2 project will be put into use in the middle of this year; the shipping industry agglomeration has come into being; the function of being the financial centre has appeared , with the phase-1 projects maturating and phase-2 projects of Ningbo Bank Construction Bank, Bank of communications to be completed next year. The Bank of China has been completed, the financial industry city basically formed.
Commercial economic development will rely on the construction and run of a new batch of commercial buildings. Comprehensive and functional headquarters will be brought in consecutively. During the three years, the construction of the four complexes will be promoted. Among it, Hongtai plaza strives to turn into a demonstration zone of modern service industries between Ningbo and Taizhou. Ningbo Center, City Lights and Intime Projects aim to develop high-end business services. By year 2016, it is estimated that the number of corporate headquarters, business office buildings, star-rated hotels and shopping malls and other high-rises will reach more than 50.
Culture, education, health, landscaping and other public facilities will be established. During the next 3 years, the Cultural Square will turn ripe; Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, new City Library, workers’ homes and other livelihood projects will come into operation consecutively; the construction of the Press Building, Broadcasting Building and others will go on. In addition, 2 schools and 3 kindergartens will be completed and the construction for one school and a community health center will be started.
In terms of urban landscaping and road construction, a number of projects will be completed, including the Yangmuqi River, north eco-corridors and its second stage project, the Central Plaza and the Public Square. Meanwhile, we will kick off the construction of Ming Lake, doing the best for forge a watery town featuring “green” and “water”.
