Interesting landscape belt built under the bridge

Recently, when people drive past Chenglang Bridge (the intersection of Yongda Road and Jiangdongnan Road), they will find that the previous dense and uneven greenery under the bridge was replaced with newly laid "painted patterns", which is quite refreshing.

The renovation and upgrading of the space under the viaduct has become a topic of concern to the public. Parking lots, gymnasiums, warehouses... the unique transformation has turned the city's "negative space" into a "positive space", which further promotes the improvement of the city's quality. However, some space factors are limited, and how should we deal with the space under the bridge that does not have the "inherent conditions"? Yinzhou District provides a solution.

It was seen at the scene that the height of the space under the bridge was about 2 meters. Due to the limitation of space, it did not have the objective conditions to be transformed into the sports park and parking lot. The relevant person in charge of the Landscaping Center of the Yinzhou District Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau said that in the past, this type of space under the bridge was mainly planted with shade-tolerant green plants such as octagonal gold plate, but due to the lack of sunlight and rainwater in the space under the bridge, the greening maintenance cost was high and repeated. Replanting has little effect. It has a bad look and feel. It also easily becomes a messy land or a gathering place for homeless people.

How to make effective use of these leftover plots, take into account the objectives of improving landscape effects and reduce maintenance costs? Yinzhou District's garden department brainstormed and innovatively used waste wood chips and colorful bark, supplemented with Ophiopogon japonicus for embellishment, and "painted" various patterns according to local conditions to create a unique woody space. Such raw materials are not only affordable, but also have the characteristics of wind and burn resistance. In this way, it not only solves the problem of poor growth of shrubs in the space under the bridge, enriches the urban landscape, but also broadens the use of waste products.

The relevant person in charge of the Yinzhou District Landscaping Center said that after the pilot period is over, this approach is expected to gradually expand to areas with similar needs and enrich the beautification and use of the space under the bridge
