Seven ecology promotion projects to be launched in Dongqian Lake Area

In the core area of the Dongqian Lake New Town, the project of upgrading No.8 road to provincial road will be completed. In the meanwhile, some projects will be continued, including the southern extension of the Fuqing road, the southern extension of the East ring road and the “single-horn” intersection project, which will significantly optimize the traffic conditions in the area. There will be 72 projects to be carried out this year, with an annual investment of 6.8 billion yuan, and the projects on people’s livelihood account for more than half of them.

With such activities as “effective investment year”, “relocation for reconstruction year” and “tourism breakthrough year”, the Management Committee of Dongqian Lake Resort Area will hold the opportunity to implement the “seven promotion projects”. By speeding up the construction of the ecological and leisure resort, it will make breakthroughs in building the core area of the new town, transforming the waterfront area of the old town and optimizing the rural tourist area, to form a special lake area in the city.

The core area of the Dongqian Lake New Town, with its orientation of service center for lives and resort service base, is the focus of construction this year. The planned area, covering 1.59 square kilometers, will be divided into three major function sub-areas including the lakeside leisure resort, the riverside business area and the riverfront business offices and living quarters. At present, the new trunk road network has basically taken shape, and Qianhu Park has been completed. This year the 420,000-square-metre open waterfront ecological corridor will be constructed, and other projects will be promoted, including the tourism distributing center, lakeside plaza, business and financial centers, and Chamber of Commerce building.

The old town area, with its record of the local history, will focus on improving the commercial tourism supporting features such as shopping, dining and entertainment, so as to make the waterfront town supplement the fashion new town, and gradually create a livable, desirable and business-friendly town. A total of 930 million yuan will be invested to create a new residential placement for the people from the old town, including an investment of 178 million yuan to the 2nd phase of the Gold Family Community and an investment of 920 million yuan to the residential placement for people from Zheng’ai Village (including a new vegetable market with an area of 25,600 square meters). The 2nd phase of the Qianhu Park Community and the 2nd phase of the Xianping West Garden Community will be completed. The Dongqian Lake Primary School, which is now under construction, will be completed by the end of next year, and the Xianping Kindergarten will be completed by the end of this year.

Lakeside villages with historical and cultural heritage will be sorted out and constructed as the models of rural eco-tourism areas. In 2013, three lakeside feature villages will be selected to build into such styles as pastoral village, water-street village and ancient-market village respectively. The “Four-village” scenic area, used to feature family farms, will be equipped with supporting public facilities. The reconstruction project of the Hanling Village aims to restore the water street and demonstrate the style of the ancient village in East Zhejiang Province.
