“Dabashou” waste recycling cabinets well received in Ningbo

“This is the 950th community where we install our ‘dabashou’ waste recycling cabinets in Ningbo”, said the BD Director of Ningbo Supply and Demand Renewable Resources Technology Co. Ltd. Since December 2018, when the company started to install the waste recycling cabinets in Yinzhou District, the use of the products have expanded to Haishu District, Jiangbei District, Beilun District and Zhenhai District.
As is planned, the “dabashou” waste recycling cabinets will be installed in 2,000 communities by the end of this year, and then in 2020, they will be installed to about 5,000 communities, thus covering all the districts and counties of Ningbo. By linking the four steps of collecting, delivery, sorting and reusing, the “dabashou” system has become a complete recycling eco-system for renewable resources.
“It’s very convenient. First I select the proper types by touching the screen, and then with a mobile phone scan, I can sell the waste to the cabinet.” said a Ms. Wang from the Fuming Street of Yinzhou District the other day when she put a pile of old newspapers into the cabinet. After that, the weight of the newspapers and the value of the “resource exchange money” appeared on her phone, which said that she could get 1.18 yuan for the deal.
Reportedly, the waste recycling cabinets at the 950 communities can receive about 50 tons of renewable resources every day.
It’s not unexpected that the “dabashou” system is well received by the citizens. In addition to the collecting step, the system has its own independent delivering, sorting and reusing stages. By omitting the intermediary stage of waste collectors, the system makes it possible for the residents to get higher rewards, to avoid the secondary pollution by the collectors, and to improve the recycling rate of the resources.
The complete eco-system is an important support for the sustainable development of renewable resources recycling. So far, the company has built three distribution centers in Jiangshan Industrial Zone, Zhenhai District, and Daxie Development Zone, and the other distributions are under construction in Beilun District, Xiangshan County, Haishu District, and Cixi County. Meanwhile, the manufacturing center of the company will soon be built, which will lay a solid foundation for the acceleration of the “dabashou” system.
Besides the collection of renewable resources, great work has been done in other aspects of waste sorting. With the acceleration of waste sorting, people have paid more attention to the long-term and effective monitoring mechanism. To support the urban management departments in their monitoring of waste sorting, the “dabashou” system has also developed a new type of smart garbage cans, which will be put into trial use in some communities at the end of August and will be exhibited at this year’s Smart China Expo. By automatically using the garbage bags with QR codes, this kind of garbage can makes it possible to trace the source of the garbage disposed by residents
