On July 8, according to statistics of Ningbo Customs, in the first half of 2019, cross-border e-commerce imports in Ningbo Bonded Area accounted for three quarters of the city’s total, and the business volume of a single region ranked the first in the country, with 37.408 million orders and the value of goods reaching 7.04 billion yuan, respectively increasing by 60.6% and 78.2% year-on-year.Among them, the three major imported goods include cosmetics, health foods, infant formula, from Japan, Australia, and the United States.

More and more consumers are beginning to try to pick up their own goods through instant online ordering since Zhejiang’s first cross-border online shopping self-pick-up center has been operating in Ningbo for a month.“By scanning the code and ordering, consumers can pick up the goods directly after customs inspection within minutes, facilitating the shopping experience and reducing business costs.” according to the customs of the Bonded Area. In the first month of operation, the 397 self pick-up lists have been released by the customs.

“The rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce import business is mainly due to the continuous optimization of regulatory services by customs and other departments to improve the level of trade facilitation.” according to the NingboBonded Area Management Committee. Ningbo Customs, at China (Ningbo) Cross-border E-commerce Summit Forum held in June, launched 8 new measures such as “Implementation of cooperation between districts and ports”, “Innovative tax guarantee method” and “Pilot ‘new retail’” to explore and practice cross-border e-commerce supervision.“The secured funds of e-commerce enterprises in the bonded area exceed 300 million yuan, and the financial pressure of enterprises has been greatly relieved by the use of guarantee letters and insurance policies.” The official said.

At present, efforts are being made to build a good environment for cross-border e-commerce by promoting the construction of bonded cross-regional circulation, intelligent upgrading of customs gateway, classification supervision of goods and “single window” of international trade
