China-Romania Silk Road Institute of Craftsmanship established

Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology announced on April 22 that China-Romania Silk Road Institute of Craftsmanship, run in collaboration with a Hunedoara counterpart, was established in Hunedoara.

This is the very first institution run by vocational colleges in China and Romania, also the very first overseas Silk Road Institute opened by a China’s higher vocational college. Different from previous Silk Road Institutes, China-Romania Silk Road Institute of Craftsmanship has a prominent feature of craftsmanship and a focus on cultivating practical talented personnel in higher vocational colleges and innovating school-running system, and it will join hands with local Confucius Institutes and enterprises, including China-invested ones.

A dean responsibility system led by a joint administrative committee will be employed to run China-Romania Silk Road Institute of Craftsmanship, and its teachers will mainly be dispatched from Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology. In terms of curriculum, apparel designing, industrial robots, makeup and other courses of vocational education will be provided. Qualified Romanian students will get a higher vocational college diploma from both China and Romania, and a 6 to 12 months of learning in Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology will also be available for them.

Following the guidelines of Belt and Road Initiative, Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology has exported quality educational resources. It has also carried out education exchanges and cooperation with colleges in Vietnam and Thailand.

These years witnessed greater openness and interaction of higher education colleges in Ningbo. For instance, China-Africa College of Vocational Education was established in Benin and China-Sri Lanka Silk Road Institute in Colombo both by Ningbo Polytechnic
