Ningbo International Auto Expo to be held

The 17th Ningbo International Auto Expo, known as "weathervane of Ningbo auto world", will be opened this week. It is learned from related departments on March 20 that the exhibition area of this expo will exceed 60,000 square meters. With over 70 mainstream car brand exhibitors from home and abroad, 90% of them being direct manufacturers, this session of the expo will be the largest one in terms of scale.

Ningbo international auto expo, jointly hosted by Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade and Ningbo Daily Newspaper Group, has been held twice a year since 2003. This session will be held form March 23 to 26 in eight halls and outdoor venues including Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Center. Over 400 models including Maserati roadster, and about 20 new models such as Land Rover Freelander 2, Jeep 2012 and the new Audi A5 family will be exhibited on site

“High-growth enterprises cultivating project” launched

The industrial transformation and upgrading conference held recently revealed that by 2015, Ningbo will cultivate 100 high-growth “gazelle enterprises” with good growth potential, strong competitive power, significant technological advantages, and strong independently innovative capacity and development potential. And more than 10 enterprises are to be listed in the market.
This initiative aims at accelerating the industrial transformation and upgrading of Ningbo by cultivating a range of enterprises with the potential of leading the industrial development. In principle, the enterprises involved should be in the strategic emerging industries of the “4+4+4” plan of the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
According to a related official from Ningbo Municipal Economy and Information Committee, the enterprises are qualified ones mainly from the eight major industries such as new material, new energy, new equipment, new information technology, energy conservation and environment protection, health, marine high-tech and creativity industry. They should also meet certain requirements for cultivation. For example, the enterprises should anticipate an annual increase of 40% of both sales revenue and profits and taxes in the following three years.
As the first year of the three-year plan, this year will see the selection of the first 100 high-growth enterprises. The increase of the sales revenue of these enterprises will be twice that of the average of the above-scale enterprises in Ningbo, with the new product output value being 5% higher than the average of the above-scale enterprises. The newly-added patents will exceed 150, and at least two enterprises will enter the channel of being listed in the stocks market.
The selected enterprises will be comprehensively assessed in terms of innovative capacity, management, products, market competitiveness and social benefits. Besides, they should be enterprises with proper management, good reputation and strong social responsibility, and without bad records of major accidents in the aspects of safety, environmental protection, health, labor, taxes, credit, quality and property rights within the recent two years.
The enterprises will undergo dynamic cultivation, that is, in the following two year, a number of enterprises will be eliminated from the list and other enterprises will be included to maintain the total number of about 100, to which some related departments will conduct tracking management, policy implementation, special support and major services.
It is learned that Ningbo is to set up special “high-growth plan” funds out of the special funds for strategic emerging enterprises. Policy resources and element resources from departments of all levels will be concentrated on the high-growth enterprises. In the meanwhile, such services as in market developing, investment and financing, enterprise listing and industrial docking will be strengthened to promote the rapid growth of the related enterprises

Xiangshan Hilton hotel design conference held

 The Xiangshan Hilton hotel design conference was held March 13. Representatives from 11 well-known design companies gathered in Xiangshan, making design plans for the Xiangshan Hilton. Quan Shiyong, vice president of WATG and chief designer of the Xiangshan Hilton hotel and Deputy Magistrate of Xiangshan Qiu Jinyue attended the meeting.
The Xiangshan Hilton Hotel is the first Hilton Hotel & Resort Hotel in Ningbo, with a total construction area of 109,800 square meters, and a total investment of 1.1 billion Yuan. As one of the three renowned hotels to settle in the East China, the Xiangshan Hilton Hotel will be put into operation in 2014. The hotel has a health spring center, 316 sets of full sea view suites and Ningbo’s largest banquet hall with 1200 square meters. After its opening, the hotel will the second Hilton hotel which is run by its owner but managed internationally by Hilton Group just as the example of the Hilton Shanghai hotel.
When asked about the design philosophy, Quan Shiyong said that we should integrate Xiangshan’s unique sea scenery and culture into the design, making each corner a feeling of surprise

Beilun Won Gold Medal for Business and Trade Development

In the 2011 commerce and trade circulation assessment of Ningbo city, Beilun District was granted the gold medal for Business and Trade Development and the bronze medal for market development and supply safety by Ningbo Municipal Government Office.
Last year, Beilun government has taken a series of measures to ensure the economic growth, boost domestic need，widen market and promote consumption. The government had also strengthened commercial policy to support and encourage commercial industry to become bigger and stronger. Meanwhile, the construction of business facilities and commercial zones was accelerated. Such measures as “home appliance go to the countryside” and“old for new service”projects to stimulate local economic growth were implemented. In 2011, the total retail sales in Beilun reached 10.55 billion yuan, 19.4 percent higher than that of last year. And 1 percent and 2 percent respectively higher than the average level in Ningbo and in the province, ranking the first place in Ningbo in this aspect.  At the same time, Beilun district has also attached great importance to the “rice bag”,” vegetable garden”,” vegetable stall” and “food basket” projects. And the construction of market transformation and food tracing source system was carried out as well as cracking down the fake and poor-quality merchandises and successful addressing of the soaring price of salt, which effectively protected the market supply and food safety.
Beilun District, has also won the consolation awards of commercial circulation and Contribution Award of social zero growth in Ningbo business and trade assessment.

Cixi makes policies to support economic entities

The government of Cixi steps up its efforts to make policies to support economic entities after the end of the 12th Party Congress of Ningbo. According to Ningbo Economy & Information Technology Bureau, the new policies would implement at least twice as much as the reward of the previous year on such industries as technical innovation, foreign trade, brands building and emerging industries. This is also one of the measures of Cixi to promote industry quality.
Industry quality concerns not only a city’s ecological environment and the quality of the services uplifting people’s well-being, it is also a matter of improving people’s living standard. Given to its great importance, Xu Hua, the Secretary of Cixi Municipal Party Committee of the CPC voiced that Cixi should strengthen people’s well-being through the promoting of industry quality which centered on developing the real economy and quickening the pace of upgrading economic structure.  
There have been several specific measures to reach the above-mentioned goal. First is to guide the upgrading of industrial structures. To be specific, the first step should be to draft the transformation plan in industrial economy and give priority to the development of industries of low resource-consuming, less environmental pollution and high output efficiency. The development of emerging industries is covered in this step and it alone must complete an investment of 2.5 bln yuan and an annual output value of 60 bln yuan. And so the agglomeration effects of the four new industries—new energy resources, new materials, electronic information, and high-end equipment manufacturing—would be more evident. The second step is to eliminate backward production capacity and further implement the three-year plan of weeding out backward production capacity. It is estimated to eliminate over 4,000 outdated equipments in 2012. The replacement of air compressors, transformers and turret lathe can save 3000 kwh of electricity one year, equivalent to almost ten thousand tons of standard coal.
Second is to build platform to support industrial agglomeration. The government is already set to construct a special zone for emerging industries in the downtown of Cixi. In the first phase, the infrastructure constructions of 7 companies are already under way. And 4 companies have located in the second phase project and half a bln of investment have been put into the construction. In addition, Cixi is also striving to promote the construction of other cluster zones such as the Binhai Zone in eastern Cixi and other areas. These zones are all of different emphasis. For example, the Binhai Zone in Eastern Cixi is concentrated on the development of equipment manufacturing, automobile parts, mechano-electronics and new electronic equipments etc.
Third is to advance innovation to lift core competitiveness. It has become a consensus between government and enterprises to develop real economy by innovation. Thus, enterprises are also making greater efforts to develop innovation. For example, the sealing system developed by Cixi Tiansheng Corporation, the winner of the second class of the National Science Progress Award, and IHEP has gone through proof session and once it has been put into practice, Cixi Tiansheng Corporation will become the first company in China which has the technology to recycle nuclear waste. At present, the 136 municipal and above level engineering centers in Cixi own special R & D equipments worthy of 690 mln yuan. Moreover, Cixi also has 1,481 senior technical staffs that form a strong impetus to uplift industry quality.
