Now, 2009 Ningbo Shopping Festival is open. It is learned yesterday from the Organizing Committee of the Festival that since the opening of the festival, through tourist agencies, communities and websites, the Organizing Committee has handed out tourist coupons worth 20 million yuan and this has started a new wave of shopping and tour in Ningbo.
The shopping festival, which has been opened successively for years, attracts not only the people of Ningbo, but also tourists from Taizhou, Jiaxing and Zhoushan.
During 2009 Ningbo Shopping Festival, the tourist agencies appointed by the Organizing Committee suggest to tourists two routes: a tour of shopping and recreation and a tour of visiting historical places of interest and each tourist is given a coupon worth 400 yuan for tourist consumption. Ningbo China Agency advises two programs: "One-day Program" and "Two-day Program", each including such places of interest as Tianyi Pavilion Library Museum, Xikou Scenic Spot, Tianyi Square and Ningbo Town God's Temple, integrating tourism, shopping and recreation. This is a big attraction for tourists from out of Ningbo.
"This year, the tourist coupons are handed out through the websites, communities, travel agents, expressway toll gates and gas stations. Today the shopping festival has not yet finished, but 50,000 coupons have been all handed out," said a related person from the Tourist Administration of Haishu District.
